AnnouncementsThe Davis Enterprise Endorses John Ferrera for Yolo County SupervisorVoters in the 4th Supervisorial District – North, East and South Davis and El Macero – will say farewell to their elected representative, Mariko Yamada, this year, and elect her successor. We recommend John Ferrera for the seat. Ferrera is a relative newcomer to Davis, having lived here but nine years. However, he has plunged into local volunteerism and has the community’s core values at heart. Couple that commitment to public service with his considerable professional background in public policy, and he’s a strong choice to help guide Yolo County in the coming years. Ferrera and Supporters knock on over 2,000 doors
John Ferrera, candidate for Yolo County’s 4th District Supervisor, kicked off his field campaign treating volunteers and supporters to coffee, donuts and juice Saturday morning. After a short rally, where John was introduced by West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, volunteers fanned out throughout the 4th District. Overall, they made over 2,000 voter contact attempts! Ferrera files Candidacy Papers
On this sunny morning, February 29, 2008, John Ferrera, accompanied by his wife Anna, arrived at the Yolo County Clerk of Elections office to formally file papers to be a candidate for 4th District Supervisor. "I know its a little corny, but we're taking a leap; 'Leaping into leadership' on Leap Year Day. I like the symbolism, " said Ferrera. "I'm excited to take responsibility for making tough decisions and working to leave things better than we found them. I've committed myself to public service for 22 years working on the issues we face here in Yolo County -- creating a long-term vision for preserving and enhancing our environment, supporting agriculture and the economy, and providing for those who need our help. Now, I am committing myself to four years of service to the residents of the 4th district, and Yolo County as a whole. It seems appropriate to do it on a day that happens once every four years." “Anna and I come from families who participated in and contributed to their communities. We’re at a point in our careers and our family’s life where we can carry on that legacy and give back ourselves. I want to use my experience to help preserve what makes Yolo County special and what made us want to raise Jake and Monica here.” Ferrera stated. |
